Uniform Policy

For the 2023-24 school year, all scholars MUST be in complete uniform each day.

  • TOP: Scholars should wear any Leadership Prep Ocean Hill Middle Academy shirt

    • Collared Button Up/Polo

    • LPOHMA Sweaters

  • BOTTOM: Scholars should wear any Khaki pants/ skirt/short

    • Does Not have to be from Ideal

    • Cannot be sweatpants/jeans

  • BELT: Can be black or brown

  • SHOES: Scholars should wear any ALL black shoes/sneakers

Cell Phone Policy

Scholars who are sent to school with a cellphone must turn it in daily.

Cell phones will be collected as students enter AM Homeroom and placed in a secure safe box. Scholars' cell phones will be returned to them in PM Homeroom.

Scholars are prohibited from carrying cell phones during the school day. In case of emergency, call the Main Office at (347) 390-0550 to reach your scholar.

If your scholar is found with their cell phone during the school day, it will be confiscated and a parent/guardian will be required to come to the school to retrieve it.


Recess & Dismissal Procedures

Scholars will participate in outdoor recess from Monday through Thursday, provided the weather is favorable.

Here’s how it works:

Recess Days: If the weather permits, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade scholars will have recess on Mondays through Thursdays from 3:05PM - 3:30PM.

  • Safety First: While we’re all about fun, safety remains our top priority. Rest assured, we’ve put measures in place to ensure that recess is secure and supervised.

Grade Dismissals From Recess: When recess ends, your scholars will be dismissed from their recess location. Please see these locations below:

5th Grade: Sackman Avenue (Exit/Dismissal Door)

6th Grade: 51 Christopher Ave. Main Entrance (Nearest Liberty Avenue)

7th Grade: Houston Playground (Sackman Avenue & Glenmore Avenue)

8th: Grade: Houston Playground (Sackman Avenue & Glenmore Avenue)


Sports Contract

1a. To be eligible for any team, the student must meet LPOHMA eligibility requirements. Leadership Prep Ocean Hill requires a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.50 and the student athlete MUST ATTEND WEEKLY STUDY HALL/PLUS ADDITONAL DAYS IF NOT ON THE HONOR ROLL (3.0 GPA). Eligibility will be checked every two weeks. Student must have a 2.5 GPA by the end of the quarter.

1b. Students have a limit of 3 Dean Referrals from class during the season. If a scholar exceeds 3 Dean referrals, the student will receive up to 3 strikes after the 3rd Dean Referral. Official strikes are at the discretion of the coaches, leadership staff, and the Athletic Director. Parents will be notified of every send out. A call from the Athletic Director will be made to the parents/guardian(s) to notify them of the strike.  

1st Strike- Extra running/discipline in practice 2nd Strike- Miss next game but must attend 3rd Strike- Excused off the team.

2. An athlete may change from one sport to another only if he has permission from both coaches.

3. Should an athlete be removed from a team, by their parents, be dismissed by the coach or quit a team the athlete will not be allowed to attend any further practices or games related to that sports program.

4. An athlete MUST be in school a minimum of 4 classes to participate in a game or practice held on that day. A legal admit must be presented if the athlete misses any part of school on a game or practice day to be considered for participation.

5. An athlete MUST attend practices to play in the games. It is up to the coach and the individual sports program to determine the discipline for missed practices.

6. A student athlete will immediately become ineligible and could lose all playing privileges for that season of sport for any of the following reasons:
A. Quitting a sport without a justifiable reason or consent of the coach.
B. Smoking, drinking, and/or the use of illegal drugs.

C. Acting in a manner that may bring dishonor or shame to the community or school. D. Fighting or coming off the bench or sideline during any fight on the playing area. E. Consistent discipline, academic and/or attendance issues. *
*Eligibility may be earned back at the discretion of administration and / or the coach.

7. Students will show respect for teammates, opponents, officials, and coaches.

8. The athlete is personally responsible for all school athletic equipment checked out and will return the equipment in good condition and on time.

9. Know and follow all state, section and school athletic rules and regulations as they pertain to eligibility and sports participation.

10. Students will win with character, lose with grace.
